a new interest for translation
Translation Studies has known in the last 40 years an important development. We can mention the first studies in a structuralist context (Jakobson 1959) or in the framework of information theory (Bar Hillel 1966) and the pioneer volumes of Mounin (1963), Catford (1965), Kade (1968). We can also remember the foundational work of Eugene Nida in Bible translation. After the Seventies, however there was a real explosion of research that has enriched the debate. Among the most known researchers we think of James Holmes (1988), Itamar Even–Zohar (1990), Gideon Toury (1980, 1985, 1995), André Lefevere (1992a), Josè Lambert (Lambert e van Gorp 1985), Susan Bassnett (1991a), Mary Snell–Hornby (1988) e Theo Hermans (1985), Lawrence Venuti (1995; 1998). All these scholars are oriented toward integrating from different perspectives Literary and Comparative Theory, Cultural Studies, Psychoanalysis, and Semiotics in the area of translation.
