Getting MAP/Bloomfire organized

Sure, you can search for anything, but your search is only as good as your search terms. I recently added an "English" community, hoping that at a minimum we might let people who wanted to work in  a familiar language do so easily. We have already have Castellano, and I am hoping others will add more language communities soon. Of course this means doing the work of marking our contributions according to the community where we think they belong. I have marked my English and Spanish series already, and am hoping others will edit their series, posts and questions as well.

I would also encourage others to make series from their posts and questions, and to create more communities as well. There are already quite a few, but I am thinking of using communities  to create high-level organizational structure (like linguistic groups) right now. Series can then be used to collect materials from a training workshop, for example, and thus allow browsing by series to either find or ignore such specific contributions by anyone visiting the site.

I would welcome feedback on this issue from anyone so inclined.

Been thinking about this since you posted it hoping someone else would start the conversation. I think it would be great to have a bit more direction for new users, but at the same time, I don't. I don't want language communities to be so segmented that a mostly-English reader wouldn't see a Spanish post, or vice versa. I do hope content in more languages is added so MAP can serve world-wide translators, but I still think of it as Facebook. The only way to check out what's on Facebook is to search for something or to look at your friends' walls and see what they've posted and who they're talking to. We have both of those functions here on MAP, the difference is only that it looks much cleaner on Facebook. So I wonder if we need a true organizational overhaul or just more users and a less cluttered look on individual's information pages. What are other bloomfire communities doing about this issue?
