Realising how much of 'meaning' arises from the context, and ways in which use of European languages outside of the West distort power relationships, the Alliance for Vulnerable Mission advocates use of local languages and resources in at least some ministry outside of the West.

Bible translators often get us excellent quality bibles in indigenous languages. Missionaries and donors then 'subsidise' the use of European languages in theological and other educational practices as well as development. This easily frustrates bible translators' aims. Why not use indigenous languages in ministry? Discuss.
