JOSEPH'S TWO DREAMS

I am fascinating by this group who have performed in the SBL Orality workshop. The way they get into the text and "embody" both in English as well as in Hebrew is a thing of beauty. There is so much to be said and analyzed here. But that will have to wait for now. Just posting it for now. The point here is not so much about Hebrew pronunciation but rather of how they have the courage but also how we can see how Performance is translation. The many choices they have to make in terms of tone, body language, movement, use of space, distribution of the characters all are features that can help understand the text for translation and actually could lead to different translations. Their performance is based on good exegesis and interaction with the text. And I am sure they understand the story much better and understand the Hebrew much better since they have themselves become the text!
