Here's some literature on cognitive linguistics and translation. Another one is an article by Prof. Sandra Halverson of the Norwegian School of Economics, "Reorienting Translation Studies: cognitive approaches and the centrality of the translator," in Advances in linguistics, edited by Juliane House, London: Palgrave Macmillan 2014. Ana Rojo, Marina Ramos and Javier Valenzuela wrote "The emotional impact of translation: A heart rate study" inthe Journal of Pragmatics, 2014, Vol.71, 31-44, of which the description is "Metaphorical vs. non-metaphorical translations of English figurative expressions are compared. ... Paraphrasing a metaphor in translation results in the audience's diminished emotional response. The present work explores the question of whether the adoption of a certain translation strategy can alter the effect that a translated text may cause on a given audience. With this aim, an experimental study was designed to measure whether the loss of metaphoricity in the translation of figurative expressions may actually result in the audience's diminished emotional response to the translation as compared with the one prompted by the metaphorical image. ... Results report significant differences between metaphorical and non-metaphorical translations for the four emotions analysed, pointing to a difference in their emotional impact on the recipients of the translation."

Thanks, Marijke. Ana and Javier were participants at the Translation conference in Murcia Spain in June 2010 where they gave papers. The theme of the conference was Cognition and Translation (http://nsts.fusp.it/events/cognition).
