I have recently started a new group in MAP called Semantics of Biblical Hebrew Research Database, where I would welcome anyone who has done research on Biblical Hebrew terms to post their material. It does not have to be publishable, just readable. Comments and discussions would be welcomed. We are not only interested in formal lexical analyses, but also in reflections on translation challenges in languages around the world. Good documentation could also be adapted for developing Key term lexicons in various languages.

My motivation for this proposal is based on the fact that I personally am often doing 'Word Studies' in the quest for better understanding a term and communicating the meaning to translators. There is a special need to develop lexical resources for Biblical languages that would meet the needs of translators. This initiative could bring together work that has already been done, so that we can benefit from each other's research and discoveries.

I have posted one item in this group. Hope to see more!

Look for my paper at BT 2015 conference in Dallas, on developing lexical resources for translation workers.

Thanks Linda! And I want to add that Linda Neeley is the Old Testament editor for the Translator's Notes series, produced by SIL. She and her authors would very much benefit from any Hebrew semantic research. I know because I am one of them! :)

Clearly this aspect is not very user friendly! I think you should have the permission. It should be just a matter of finding it! Sorry! I will ask Bob Bascom if we can help us with this. I will try with a second set of instructions - hopefully more clear. Let me know if you see the same thing. Under Groups, you see only one Group : MAP Click on MAP, and it opens up a small list. At the bottom of the list, it says : "9 more". Click on "9 more" and pull the Scroll bar to the bottom of the list where you will see Semantics of Biblical Hebrew Research Database. Click on it and it will open up a page with the posts that belong to that group. As for contributing, you need to be signed up to contribute.
