The Norwegian Bible Society has developed the idea of a religious instructor in the Church of Norway, rev. Hilde Heitmann. Responding to the decline of bible knowledge in youth and children she invented a bible story line, showing 52 important narratives from the Old and New Testament as one integrated illustration. The goal is to help children and young people to see the connection between the single bible stories, the complete story line of the Bible and their individual life storiew, which also have a fixed spot on the timeline, close to the transition to the last part of the illustration, "A new heaven and a new earth". The bible story line is published on the website of the Norwegian Bible Society and linked to their online Bible, which has many unique users every day. It is also avaiable in two PVC formats to display on the floor or on a table, or to hang up in a classroom or a church room. Included n the concept is a retold version of each of the 52 stories, either on paper or online, which also include the possibility of listening to the story. The web site also has a log-on mode for religious teachers, including a methodological introduction and teaching resources for each story. It also includes a picture viewer which highlihgts single motives as well as making it possible to displa different parts of the timeline together with the motives. The teacher's handbook is also available in print.
