This was a starting point for listing some of the scripture products and scripture based products produced by and for minority language communities (and some major languages too!). Inclusion does not always mean global endorsement)

Can you help expand this list further to include additional products and product types plus details of how further translation and adaptation is possible and who to contact?

Posted on map.bloomfire.com this is visible to the general public so please don't post anything that producers wouldn't want to make public.

Some of the statistics as to how many languages a product exists in are still from an earlier version.

My list is divided into:

**A. Print Scripture Products – large or small selections of translated scripture
**

**B. Printed scripture based products – derived products based on scripture
**

**C. Video products – including anything where the pictures move
**

D. Audio products – kind of like videos only the picture are in your head

E. New Media – anything that doesn’t fit into the categories above

Print Scripture Products

(each of these might also be distributed as electronic files eg PDFs or within Bible software)

1.Portions (whole books)
2.NT
3.**NT +**other books/selections
4.Bible - SIL and UBS both try and track details of published Bibles, New Testaments, and Portions. The Forum of Bible Agencies has a public site http://find.biblewhich attempts to list and link to where these can be obtained. The Digital Bible Library is working to make scriptures freely available in digital formats and currently links to material in nearly 2000 or the 3000 languages known to have some scripture (not all are yet available digitally)

5.Lectionaries - http://justus.anglican.org/resources/bcp/languages.html provides a list of translations of the Anglican Prayer Book into 200+ languages . I'm not currently aware of other comprehensive listing or directory of lectionaries for other traditions/denomination. Suggested links welcome.

6.Selections eg Christmas story, Easter, selections of proverbs / parables - in some major languages there are many thousands of products. In thousands of languages there isn't much.

7.Verses and ‘micro selections’ eg

a.verses on calendars,

b.book marks, posters,

c.T-shirts, banners,

d.shop signs,

e.business cards,

f.(or in one town in the Philippines printed by law on the back of all taxis)

8.Content within local print media (eg column or article in local newspaper or church publications)

Printed scripture based products

For each of the items in section A the majority of the written text would be scripture. I'm using 'scripture based products' to mean other materials incorporating translated scripture, material summarizing scripture (eg a simplified retelling of a story), or material inspired by scripture eg hymns and songs in the local language that both carry a scripture message and help people use their language in church settings.
