SIL's Project Plan for Paratext 8 users
Trying to codify the practices of translators on the field into an organization-wide standard is a rather impossible task. Especially for an organization as diverse as SIL. So we'd like to put our attempt out for public comment and review.
SIL Paratext 8 Project Plan Rev. 1.3
Before you dive in, here are a few things to understand about the plan and how it works in Paratext.
1. These tasks appear as check boxes and can be assigned to specific team members.
2. We figured it was better to have too many tasks, allowing teams to remove the ones that are not relevant to them. The idea is that it is easier to remove tasks that aren't part of your process than to remember to add tasks that are.
3. Note that certain tasks are labeled once per project. These are not tasks that the translators would concern themselves daily, because once they are marked as complete, they are always complete. Other than the first task "Create translation brief", all of the per project tasks occur in stage 6 to prepare for final publication. These tasks would be dormant for most of the life of the project. There may be a better way to handle this, but we won't be seeing that until a later version of Paratext.

After looking at the plan, it seems to me that tools to check weights/measures/money need to be developed. Does any one already have a list of weights/measures/money an the verses that they appear in? Also a better tool for achieving the task "make Biblical key terms report." Currently, it seems to be a labor intensive process to find all the Biblical terms that have changed since the last consultant check or a set date. Is there a standard format for such a report? If a few people could send me such a report, then I could write a better feature request and send it to the Paratext development team.
The SIL Base plan and The Seed Company base plan are closely based on translation plan published by Katherine Barnwell, called "Chart of the stages of translation", 2008 which can be found in Translator's Workplace. Title Page
