This conference is primarily a lead in to the BT Conference in October, 2019. Everyone has been encouraged to convey the state of their research and reflection as it contributes to scripture translation and engagement. We are  working with the hermeneutical lenses of contextualization and literary quality. We are looking for a significant publication to arise out of this endeavor as we gather colleagues together, both now and in October.

There is no expectation of a finished paper-presentation, but rather the identification of key features that the contributor offers toward our collective wisdom in the common task of Bible translation. From applied linguistics (including orthography) and scriptural literacy to applied anthropology and biblical studies, this conference is pursuing insights that will not only improve Bible translation in the next generation (enhancing and clarifying strategies and mission) but also invigorate and inspire afresh those segments of the stake-holder community that are eager to respond to higher commitments of applied research and Bible literacy. In a future that calls for multiple translations and translation strategies toward fully developed scriptural literacy, best practice, especially now, requires the fresh pursuit of the reasons, urgency and quality-commitments of our common tasks in the Bible translation movement.
