Thanks for sharing Jeremiah. Specially for the cultures where names carries meanings and people do have deep concerns when naming their young ones. It was really amazing for me to learn that in some parts of the world people don't know what do their names mean and they don't even bother to find it out..

We haven't come up with a universal method for determining when proper titles are used as proper nouns or proper names within a discourse. The syntactic-pragmatic-discourse interface and the methods to understand when, why, and how this happens has not yet been perfected (in my knowledge) when both the common noun titles and proper nouns and names are used concurrently in the society or by speakers for the same referent.  I also argue that Kripke's definition of proper nouns and names is to narrow and must be expanded to accommodate functional and experimental definitions.  (We know when editors, redactors, and translators make such determination by their use of morphology and orthographic conventions, but this is different than the original communities' understandings.  Bailey's paper addresses this issue from a fixed point dealing with the editors and redactors position in time and how modern translators should translate the same into the target language.)  What we don't know precisely in a systematic and theoretical way  how the Targeted Language communities and how the original discourse communities that lie behind the Hebrew Bible text understood navigated such changes. This is especially hard for Biblical Linguist because we don't have access to informants and the various capture and recording (written and electronic) devices that contemporary social-linguists and anthropological linguists have in their diachronic and synchronic studies.  I've tried to start this discussion in a general way for the problems faced in English using the "John and the Massa" tales. Similar pragmatic and mixed methods and methodologies will have to be done (for other usages in English synchronically and diachronically and with other languages) before we can have anything close to a machine-generated program and standard research methodology. This include a universal grammar for this shifting.  This shifting back and forth between common noun titles and proper nouns and names is a methods and methodologies quagmire. See my paper "Quantifying the Lemma Massa as a Proper- Name in the John and Massa Tales: Using Quantitative and Qualitative Pragmatic Methods to Analyze Common Nouns Used as Proper Names": https://www.academia.edu/40419847/Quantifying\_the\_Lemma\_Massa\_as\_a\_Proper\_Name\_in\_the\_John\_and\_Massa\_Tales\_Using\_Quantitative\_and\_Qualitative\_Pragmatic\_Methods\_to\_Analyze\_Common\_Nouns\_Used\_as\_Proper\_Names.
