Takamitsu Muraoka, known for his Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac grammars as well as Septuagint studies, wrote a helpful and non-technical book _Why Read the Bible in the Original Languages?_ that will encourage mother tongue Bible translators to appreciate the importance of biblical languages. The book discusses a range of linguistic issues in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek using actual examples. It also covers the topics of culture and rhetoric. In addition, it includes a chapter on the Septuagint as a bridge between the Old and the New Testaments.
