KUALA LUMPUR - After a legal battle that lasted more than a decade, the Malaysian High Court on Wednesday (March 10) granted a Malaysian Christian the right to use the word “Allah” in her religious practice.

The ruling quashed a three-decade government ban on Christians using the word “Allah” in their religious publications.

Dear daud I am glad to read that you have succeeded in making the name Allah to be used by Christians. Do not forget that EL and ELOHIM are not too far from ALLAH. It was nice hearing from you. I wish you all the best. Manuel M. Jinbachian (Rev. Dr.) mjinbachian@yahoo.ca

According to the linked article, Christians can use "Allah" and three other words in Bibles or other materials, "provided they carry a disclaimer that they are intended only for Christians."

In contrast, Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always" (Mt 28:18-20). Surely "all nations" includes nations which are predominantly Muslim today, such as the Malay people. God intended His Word to be for them, too, and will not concede to them being excluded from His grace.

Rather than acknowledging any authority greater than Jesus, Christians in Malaysia and everywhere else are commanded to boldly proclaim the gospel to all nations, come what may. It is dangerous to pretend that secular authorities have any authority to decide for Christians what the most accurate, faithful ways to translate God's Word or present the gospel are.
