Can anyone point me to discussions of the theoretical foundation underlying study Bibles--purpose(s), legitimate and illegitimate; what does and doesn't belong in the notes, etc.?

Ernst-August Gutt's work on the mismatch between SR's and TR's "contexts" (in the relevance-theoretic sense) seems like a useful starting point. I know of some work by E. R. Wendland on the theory behind the Chewa study Bible. What else?
