Dear Jeremiah - this seems quite ambitious, but very interesting. It might be helpful to know what you are really trying to compare between the groups and start with a smaller number of traits. it might also be good to allow for the inclusion of other BT orgs. Another issue is that it might be good to compare comparable organizations. UBS is a Bible Society which is somewhat different from a translation organization. I see possible categories as BS designed to distribute, Funding organizations, Sending BT organizations. Just a thought. You can contact me offline if you'd like to discuss further.
Dear Willits,
Thank you for your reply.
I would appreciate if you can elaborate here about the rationales of those categories. Your point is very interesting to have categories of BT, which actually do not do translate themselves, but to facilitate the Bible Translation movement.
Actually I have a more specific research question about comparing the methodology or approach of Bible translation between Bible Society and Wycliffe/SIL. However, I fear that I may focus on the twigs and miss the forest. Thus, I start with a generic questions and asking opinion from the community to ensure the matching the relevance to practice and maximize the impact of the research. I would like to include more organizations and to show my respect and concern for those minority organization who may not have the heritance from either SIL/Wycliffe or Bible Society? I think they can help me to see from perspectives that I am not familiar with. I prepare to aggregate the discussion here, as I found it is more difficult to keep check of discussion and thread in email. If you prefer certain topic for personal discussion. Please send me an email. Thanks.
