Importing Translation Drafts into Paratext
As the Bible translation movement gathers momentum, it is becoming more common for translation projects to begin without using Paratext. Or sometimes translation teams have a need to draft outside of Paratext. Eventually, many of these teams wish to import their drafts into Paratext. There are some technical challenges to making this change that the following video is meant to address. This video was produced by the Language Technology in Use department of SIL. Because of the wide variety of projects this eight-minute video cannot cover all possibilities, but it does give the essentials of importing a text file with or without chapter and verse markers into Paratext. The file needs to be plain text with UTF-8 encoding. The one required USFM for importing or pasting a text into Paratext is to have the \id marker at the top of the file. For more information about this marker watch the video or consult USFM documentation.
