Comprehension testing the KJV by phone survey: The King James Bible Study Project
The King James Bible Study Project is a national phone survey that ran from November, 2022, through April, 2023. It is designed to assist churches in evaluating the current readability level of the King James Bible.
Survey respondents were 100 pastors who preach and teach exclusively from the King James Bible.
Mark Ward and the Textual Confidence Collective conducted a phone survey of 100 pastors who preach and teach exclusively from the King James Version, testing their comprehension of 2nd person pronoun distinctions (singular vs. plural, not case) and their knowledge of various words and constructions whose meanings have changed in the last four hundred years.
I took the online version of the survey myself and thought that the words and constructions picked out weren't unusually obscure (for example, you wouldn't have to know that rereward means "rear guard").
You can see the results at the link above, along with details of how the survey was conducted.
