Dear all:

As I was doing my own Bible reading last weekend I stumbled over a German translation of ἐνδύσησθε ἐξ ὕψους δύναμιν in Luke 24:49. Some German translators use "ausrüsten" for ἐνδύω which is clever because it has the double meaning of "equip" and "put into armor," covering both the metaphor and the actual meaning of the word in this verse. I quickly recorded it in the Translation Insights & Perspectives tool (see https://tips.translation.bible/tip_verse/luke-2449/) but I of course realize that there are so many other instances across so many terms and concepts and languages in the Bible like this that are not being recorded because I just don't know about them. Could you please share such instances in the languages you work with or read with me so that I can record them in TIPs?

Another somewhat similar case is the "bear child / give birth" record in https://tips.translation.bible/tip_verse/hos-16/ et al. It's a beautiful translation of that concept in Spanish and some other Romance languages that we readers often don't "see" if those are their primary languages because this is "just normal" terminology. Could you also share instances like this when you encounter them? Or maybe you even have lists of translations like that in the languages you translate into that you coud share?

Thank you so very much!

Jost
