Patmos World Bible Attitudes Survey - launch 30 April 2025

Here’s an invitation to a launch of a huge global survey on Bible and religious attitudes, done by the British and Foreign Bible Society in partnership with UBS. Some of us had a preview of some of their findings last week, I’m sure it will be of great interest to many on this list. The launch is on 30 April at three different times to suit different time zones. Feel free to pass this on.

Dear friends,

 I'm writing to invite you to the global launch of the Patmos World Bible Attitudes Survey, a research initiative that explores attitudes toward the Bible across 85 countries and territories. This global research project is brought to you by the British and Foreign Bible Society, in partnership United Bible Societies. Research has been conducted by Gallup, a leading global polling agency, and represents one of the largest studies of its kind, fieldwork was conducted in-person, via telephone and internet-based surveys and we’ve heard from over 90,000 people. Each country had a minimum sample size of 1,000. We have analysed the results across seven distinct contexts for mission, to help us explore global attitudes towards the Bible.

 The launch event will be online and takes place on 30 April 2025. It will be repeated over three sessions to accommodate different time zones, with translation from English available in Spanish and French. During each session, we'll share the methodology behind the survey, present headline findings about global Bible attitudes and global religious patterns, as well as hear from stakeholders about the potential impact of these insights on Bible engagement strategy.
