Hi everyone! I’m excited (and a bit nervous) to share a new resource with you. My book, Bible Translating as a Loyal Activity, explores a concept I’m calling Loyal Bible Translation, which is a framework for navigating the often tricky balance between loyalty to the source text and loyalty to the audience.

The book is shaped by my experiences with Bible translation work in a Muslim-majority and oral context in Mozambique, with a strong emphasis on covenant relationships through what I call the "Translation Covenant" and intentionally seeking to understand the complexities of a given Bible translation context.

I’d be grateful for your thoughts and engagement with my book. Feel free to share with anyone you think would benefit (including those interested in translation studies, intercultural engagement, orality and Oral Bible Translation, Bible translation in other religious contexts, etc). I wrote this book in the hope that we in the Bible translation community can grapple more intentionally with translating the Bible in a way that is truly loyal to both the source and the audience without forsaking either.

Many thanks to those who have already read the book and written generous endorsements: Ernst Wendland, Patrick Krayer, Mark Strauss, R. Daniel Shaw, and others. Thanks to Andy Warren-Rothlin for the foreword.

It's available in eBook formats as well as paperback from Wipf & Stock, Amazon, etc. Hardcover will be out soonish. Check it out here or search via Amazon: https://wipfandstock.com/9781666773446/bible-translating-as-a-loyal-activity/
