Over the past decades, the pace of Bible Translation has accelerated enormously. At least parts of the Bible have now been translated, or are being translated, into thousands of languages. In my talk we will look at the current state of Bible translation: what does the Bible translation landscape look like AD 2025, and what does this mean for the church?  We will also probe into some more fundamental questions about Bible translation. What does it mean that the Bible is translated into thousands of languages, and what does it mean that it is translated at all?Paulus Kieviet (PhD) is a Senior Translation Consultant with SIL Global and connected to Wycliffe Bijbelvertalers Nederland. With his family he lived in Australia, Papua New Guinea, French Polynesia and Easter Island; he wrote A grammar of Rapa Nui (2017). Currently he mainly works with local teams in Micronesia, who translate the Bible into their own languages. He serves as an elder in the Hervormde Wijkgemeente Grote Kerk in Alblasserdam.
