Our forum brings together experts in biblical studies, translation work, and related disciplines each year. Your expertise and long-standing experience would be a particularly valuable contribution to the event.

The next Bible Translation Forum will take place on 29–30 May 2026 at the International Conference Center Karimu, Siegenweg 34, 57299 Burbach, Germany.

Naturally, accommodation and meals will be provided for all speakers. To give you an impression of the conference format, I would be happy to send you the program of the 2025 event. The 2025 program, just fyi, can also be found here:

We would be delighted if you would consider participating as a speaker. I would greatly appreciate hearing from you and am, of course, available at any time should you have any questions.

With warm regards,

Tianji Ma

Thank you very much for your inquiry about the Bible Translation Forum. I am glad to provide you with some more information.

1. Organization and Intended Audience

The Forum was originally founded in 2005 by the translator Eberhard Werner. After his passing, I—Tianji Ma—took over the coordination. I serve as a missionary with OMF International and teach at several Chinese theological seminaries. The Forum takes place annually in Germany and welcomes a broad range of contributions related to Bible translation—exegetical, translational, methodological, linguistic, and more. We especially encourage presentations that are accessible to participants from diverse backgrounds and stimulate discussion. Presentations typically last 50 minutes to one hour, followed by feedback and open dialogue. The intended audience includes anyone interested in Bible translation, both in theory and in practice.

2. Date, Venue, and Costs

The next Bible Translation Forum will take place:29–30 May 2026at the International Conference Center Karimu, Siegenweg 34, 57299 Burbach, Germany. In addition to accommodation costs, there is a conference fee of approximately €30–50 per participant, which helps cover the use of facilities, technical equipment, and coffee/refreshment services.Accommodation at Karimu (2025 rates for orientation) is approximately:

  • Double room: from €65 (breakfast included), €77 (half board), €93 (full board)
  • Single room: from €89 (breakfast included), €117 (full board)Apartments start at €110 (breakfast included).More information can be found on the Karimu website.

For invited speakers, all costs—including meals, accommodation, and the conference fee—are covered.

We do accept paper proposals. An annual yearbook is usually published after the Forum. For submissions or questions, please contact me directly: tianji.ma1309@gmail.com.

Each year, the program features around 5–7 speakers covering a wide spectrum of topics.Among next year’s contributors will be Dr. Jim Harries and Prof. Dr. Gerhard Tauberschmidt, among others. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
