It is important to NOT turn on DISPLAY SPELLING (red jagged underline in editor window) while translating or editing the text. It will distract most people. But it is important to DISPLAY SPELLING before going on to the next section or next chapter. The content, terminology and intent of what you want the text to say is most accessible at that point. Spell checking the text later will often result in having to re-read both the translation and other texts. At times it may take just a few seconds but I would be most certain the time to review and fix will most often be more than a few seconds. Worse yet, there is a greater chance of "fixing" one problem but creating another (worse) problem, like correcting a typo - replacing it with the wrong word.
I like your focus on using "Spell check current book" as the base method of spell checking. Using this tool teaches Paratext to recognize words that do not fit the usual pattern for the language quicker than any other method.
