Specialized Programs for Deaf Bible Translation & Consulting
Shalom from the Land of the Bible!
You are invited to Learn from the Source and Eliminate the Old Testament Gap by training in source language and consulting skills through the Institute for Biblical Languages & Translation's one-of-a-kind immersive program in Jerusalem.
Specialized Programs for Deaf Bible Translation & Consulting
We would like to draw your attention to IBLT’s specialized programs for Deaf students in the Land of the Bible as a part of our MA in Classical Hebrew and MA in Classical Hebrew & Translation Consulting.
Our unique location in Jerusalem provides immersion in written Hebrew and Israeli Sign Language, enhancing the process of learning Biblical Hebrew. We employ Deaf instructors in Jerusalem who are already experienced in teaching Hebrew to Deaf students. We also provide supplementary instruction through qualified tutors who can sign and communicate directly with Deaf students.
Accommodations are made so that the content can be clearly understood by Deaf students. Most of the classes will be interpreted into sign language, while some classes are taught in sign language.
The MA also has an optional Deaf Specialization which includes courses in special skill sets consultants will need for working with sign language Bible translation projects.
Unique Immersion in Biblical Hebrew
Through our 9-month immersive program and Master's programs in Jerusalem, translators experience a deeper understanding of the source language, consulting skills, and orality beyond that of any program in the world within a one-year framework. The courses are interdisciplinary and experiential, developing skills needed to address the diverse linguistic issues that translators face on the field.
As we will need to apply for student visas on your behalf, applications for the 2022 programs need to be sent at least 6 months prior to the course start date.
