PROEL offers training in linguistics and translation for North African students with limited formal education, who are willing to help translating the Bible into their mother tongue.

PROEL offers this training with the University of Léon in Spain. They reached an agreement with the university to offer a Master's Degree in Applied Linguistics in 2005.  This has given us the opportunity to conduct the courses we need to train new translators and literacy teachers.

We have the opportunity to offer other courses under the university umbrella. We are not subject to the university study cycle. Courses can be scheduled flexibly. Possible schedule: study for three months, start working, come back for a few months, etc. Possible topics: phonology, morphosyntax, translation principles and practice and translation software.

We want to give the students practical language tools that they can use later. We start with the basics and teach advanced material as needed.

The teaching language is French (to our knowledge there is not enough material in Arabic).

If you are interested in sending students to this training, please let us know (diambolan@gmail.com).

In our regular Master´s in Spanish yes, we teache Paratext in order to train our people better for translation work. In this small and oriented courses it will depend on the formal education level of the students...and if they can get computers for run the program.
