This intensive course provides a descriptive overview of the Sign Language Bible Translation (SLBT) movement, trying to help minding the gap between theoretical foundations and new technical innovations. Drawing from over 2,500 years of translation history, students will explore intermodal challenges as samples of translating from a written/spoken source language to a visual-spatial target language. The syllabus covers historical backgrounds of some SLBT Projects, such as, the Brazilian Sign Language one, for example; as also, theoretical foundations of SLBT projects, descriptive guidelines about Sign Language Linguistics case studies of Deaf ownership and leadership issues regarding SLBT projects, like specificities of biblical translation performances.

Let's gather together and share more about how the SLBT has been developed worldwide!!
Longing to meet you guys, soon!!

Best,

Prof. Saulo Xavier, PhD.
